Val Caniparoli: 50 Years with SF Ballet

 

Here's some inspiration for you... Val Caniparoli, now 70 years young, talks to Dance Magazine about his ongoing 50-year career with the San Francisco Ballet.

Val began his career at San Francisco Ballet in 1973, and has held a number of artistic positions in the company, from principal dancer, to ballet master, to choreographer, to principal character artist.  At 70, he still takes the stage in character roles!

I grew up watching Val perform in SF Ballet productions of the Nutcracker.  There was rarely a year when I didn't see his name on the program for the Christmas-time classic.  For me, he simply is Drosselmeyer.

It's so inspirational to see dancers continuing their careers, well into their senior years!
