DIY Ballet Barre

For you intrepid DIY'ers:  Ballerinas By Night has some nice instructions on how to make your own ballet barre from standard galvanized pipe.

I made one of these for my home and I love it.  Note that most hardware stores carry the pre-threaded, standard-length galvanized  pipe sections and fittings you will need for this project.  The pipe comes in 1-1/4" diameter or 2" diameter: I used the 1-1/4" pipe for mine, because it was cheaper and lighter-weight.  If you want a really solid barre with more heft, and don't mind the extra cost, use the 2" pipe.

I added one hack:  I found some rubber stoppers at Lowe's, that I screwed into the "foot" fittings to keep them from scratching my floor.
