Exercises for Upper Back & Arms

Looking to get some tone in your arms and upper back?  Kathryn Morgan has a great video out, with six exercises to strengthen your arms and upper back that will also help improve your port de bras.

She does most of these exercises with light (1-5 pound) hand weights, but you can also do them with no weights if you're just starting out.  For the push-up series, if you can't do push-ups on the floor, do them against a wall, or on the edge of your kitchen counter; those will be easier if you don't have enough strength yet to do the floor push-ups.

Don't have weights?  Try grabbing a couple canned-food items out of your pantry (most are around 16 oz.).  Or, use a couple 16 oz. bottles of water.  If you want to get closer to 5 pounds, try using half-gallon milk jugs filled with water to the weight you desire; they're not as elegant as hand weights, but they do the trick.

KEEP IT SAFE:  As always, listen to your body and skip or modify anything that causes pain or discomfort.
