Beginner Ballet Class with Isabel Pulido
Hot off the press, here is a nice beginner class, from Isabel Pulido, that you can do at home. I like that the barre combinations are very basic, which gives you a chance to concentrate on form and precision. Note that she does frappes differently from our class; she uses a pointed foot, whereas we use a flexed foot -- either is correct, they're just two different styles.
For more senior dancers, I would recommend skipping the grand plies, unless your knees are very strong. I would also recommend skipping the center jumps, toward the end of the video, if you don't feel that your body is up to the challenge. Lastly, anything she does in releve (on her toes) can, without shame, also be done on a flat foot. Give it a try, and enjoy!
KEEP IT SAFE: As always, skip or modify any movements that are not safe or comfortable for your body.
This class is also archived on the "At Home" page of this website.
