Ballet Barre with Vuxen Ballet

From Vuxen Ballet, in Stockholm, Sweden, here is a nice little basic ballet barre class that you can enjoy at home.  The class is taught by Kaho Yanagisawa, second soloist of the Royal Swedish Ballet.

The combinations are short and straight forward, with most of them repeating the same movements en croix (i.e. front, side, back, side).  If you find them too short, simply rewind the video and do them a second time.  Substitute a demi-plie for the grand-plies, if your knees are not up for the challenge.  The frappe combination is a different style from how we do it in our class; the frappes are done with a pointed foot and the foot doesn't strike the floor as the leg extends.  Give them a try, if you're up for the challenge, or simply skip the frappe combination if it's too intimidating.

Happy barre!

KEEP IT SAFE:  As always, only do what your body can comfortably and safely manage.
