More Port de Bras Tips

I just love the amazing job that Julie, at Ballet for Grownups, does with her technique videos.  Here's a really nice video, breaking down some technique details on how to hold and move your arms (port de bras) in ballet.

Lovely port de bras are the decorative "icing" to top of your dance "cake." Port de bras may look simple and effortless (that's the art), but there is a lot of strength and coordination behind them (that's the workout).

The technique behind port de bras will help develop muscle tone in your arms and back.  It will also improve your upper back posture and lend grace to your everyday movements.  Don't be surprised if people start asking you, "Hey, are you a dancer?" to which you may certain answer, "Yes, in fact, I am!"
